Debar achieves ISO 9001:2015 certification from the British Assessment Bureau21st November 2016
Bradford based bi-fold hardware manufacturer Debar has achieved certification to the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2015 standard, establishing it as one of the leaders in its field.
This independent assessment was conducted by the British Assessment Bureau, a leading Certification Body, and demonstrates Debar’s commitment to customer service and quality in delivery.
Debar has now earned the right to display the coveted British Assessment Bureau quality shield and ISO 9001:2015 logo to demonstrate its conformance to the standard.
Ken Gray, Operations Director explains why ISO 9001 has been important for the company. “We decided to apply for ISO 9001 due to the increasing demand from our customers for our products to meet the internationally recognised standard for quality, legislation and regulations.
This will enable Debar to widen its horizons in both new and existing markets and will give us the opportunity to compete equally in the market place.
From an internal perspective it has allowed standardisation to be implemented in the workplace and has provided clarity of work on a consistent basis.
Feedback from employees is that they feel much more assured in understanding the flow of work, where previously the knowledge and understanding was limited to a few employees”.

Ken continues “When you have all the systems in place within the business, you need the commitment from its management and the workforce to make it work.
I have an enthusiastic management team and workforce and it’s been an amazing 5 months work of which we feel very proud.
ISO9001/2015 is a live system, so it needs everyone to play a part in the role they have within the business. You feel very satisfied when you witness these activities be carried out and fulfilled together”.
ISO 9001 was first introduced in 1987 and requires organisations to demonstrate that they do what they say they do, and that they have a Quality Management System in place to ensure consistency and improvement; leading to high levels of performance and customer satisfaction. Certified organisations are committed to continuous improvement and are assessed to ensure progress is being maintained.
THE BRITISH ASSESSMENT BUREAU
The British Assessment Bureau’s reputation was established in 1969 as a specialist in certification scheme management. In 1997, the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry approved the use of the word ‘British’ in their title, in recognition of their pre-eminent status.
Today, they certify organisations to recognised standards, including ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 27001 (information security management) and OHSAS 18001 (occupational health and safety management). They also design and manage bespoke assessment schemes. Such schemes are based on the establishment of standards, which can be developed to be recognised company-wide, industry-wide, nationally, or internationally.
